Mass Save Energy Rebates in Massachusetts
Mass Save is a collaboration of MA's utility companies offering some of the strongest residential energy incentives in the country.
If you are renovating, you should know what is available.
Free Energy Assessment
Every Mass Save member home is eligible for a free no-cost home energy assessment. An auditor visits, runs a blower door test, evaluates insulation, checks HVAC, and identifies improvements.
You walk away with:

Heat Pump Incentives
If you are replacing fuel oil, propane, or electric resistance heating:
- Significant rebates on whole-home heat pumps
We coordinate with HVAC contractors on whole-home or addition heat pump installations.
Insulation Rebates
For attic, wall, or basement insulation:
- Up to 75% rebate on installed cost (residential)
This pairs perfectly with a roofing or remodel project — if we are already in the attic or behind the walls, adding insulation is efficient.
Windows and Doors
Rebates available for Energy Star certified windows and doors, particularly when replacing single-pane or pre-2000 double-pane windows.
How We Coordinate with Mass Save
When we do a renovation:
✅ We check whether the project qualifies for Mass Save incentives ✅ We provide documentation Mass Save needs for rebate processing ✅ We can stage work to take advantage of incentive timing ✅ For heat pump or insulation work, we coordinate with Mass Save partners ✅ We help apply for HEAT Loan financing if it makes sense
We are not a Mass Save partner ourselves but we work with them constantly on MetroWest projects.
When to Use Mass Save vs. Standalone Contractor
Mass Save partner-only services (insulation, weatherization air sealing): Use the Mass Save partner directly. The rebate is much higher when they do the work.
General renovation that overlaps with Mass Save (kitchen remodel where we open walls; roof replacement where we improve attic insulation): Use us. We coordinate with Mass Save for the energy components.
Heat pump or HVAC upgrade: We coordinate. The actual HVAC work goes through licensed mechanical contractor; we manage the overall project.
